On January 1, 2006, the four towns and villages of Uda county merged to from Uda City.
In keeping with the merger, Ouda Junior High School was renamed Uda City
Municipal Ouda Junior High School.
The population of Uda City is just under 40,000. Ouda Ward (the former
town of Uda) is located in the southwest of the city, and occupies nearly
the exact center of Nara Prefecture. It is known as"the Field of Akino"
in Kakinomoto Hitomaro's poem. It prospered as a castle town under the
Matsuyama clan in the Edo period.
Ouda Junior High School was founded at the site of the schoolhouse of
the old Matsuyama National School on April 22, 1947, and two years later,
as the school population exceeded 1,000 students, it quickly became the
largest school in Uda county. The present-day main building was established
in 1965 and the special classrooms and the dining room ware added in 1981.
In the Heisei era, the computer room was built and the gym repaired. |
